Most of us have got used to the fact that the side door facing Templetonia Crescent is hard to open. It is even harder to close properly and lock.
Well, not any more.
On Saturday a door specialist took less than 20 minutes to diagnose the problem and fix it. The hinges had been eroded over the years by the weight of the door. So that the door was some 5 or 6 mm lower than it should be.
One new set of door hinges later the door opens pushing with just a finger tip. And closes just as easily.
This national Gold Point event was held over three weeks, starting on Monday 9 January.
There are actually two such competitions; one held on Mondays and the other, later in the year, that is held on Saturdays.
In both cases those doing well can be invited to a WA "final" towards the end of the year. Doing well in that can result in a visit to Canberra for the National Finals in January 2012.
As part of what I hope are improvements to the web site, I have split current blog authorship into two. Some blogs will appear under the name President. Others will be under the name peter.
Of course at the moment both are the same human being, Peter Garcia-Webb. But in the future there will be a different President and all being well I shall continue to look after the web site. Although that too will change eventually.
This blog is to do with the web site and not with matters affecting the running of the club. So it appears under the name peter.
Over the next little while I intend to change some aspects of the web site. The major change will be to provide all information freely, without the necessity of a member login.
Two reasons:
1. Not many people have actually logged in so far
2. Member login is abused by hackers and others with non-friendly intent
In addition I shall reorganize the way topic headings are displayed around the site so that hopefully it will be easier to find information.
